Amalfi Holiday

An Amalfi Holiday is quite a relaxed affair filled with strolls around the town centre, indulgent meals over looking the sea and lazy cocktails after a day at the beach.

About Amalfi

An Amalfi holiday includes seeing the sights such as Piazza Duomo is the main square where you will find an abundance of cafés and ceramic shops, while via Lorenzo d’Amalfi is lined with shops selling Limoncello, a lemon liquor made locally. Also along this street you will find delicious Gelaterie with an over whelming choice of delicious hand-churned ice-cream.

The Duomo Sant’Andrea, which dates from the 10th century is an imposing building with a Baroque interior and large bronze doors created by Constantinople in 1066.

Adjoining the Duomo in Piazza del Duomo, is Chiostro del Paradiso. This is a 13th century cemetery, with columns, statues and a museum which houses mosaics and sculptures. Music concerts are held within the Arabic style arches on Friday nights July to September.

Two museums in the centre are Museo Civico and the Museo della Carta (paper museum), which is a paper mill dating back to the 13th century.

The 9th century Arsenale on the wharf near the town centre holds artefacts from Amalfi’s former maritime years of glory.
