Amalfi Attractions

Amalfi was found in the 9th century and was a strong naval power through the 11th century. The town perched on the coast in mainly centred around Piazza Duomo and via Lorenzo d’Amalfi. Things to see are the Duomo Sant’Andrea, Chiostro del Paradiso, the Museo Civico, the Arsenale, the ceramic shops around Piazza Duomo and of course the Grotto dello Smeraldo.

Walking and yachting are popular here, with many facilities and beautiful views at every turn.

There are many small festivals throughout the year, here are two of the main ones.

June (every four years) : La Regata delle Antiche Repubbliche Marinare
This historical boat race is hosted annually, in turn, by the original four Italian maritime republics - Genoa, Venice, Pisa and Amalfi.

24 December - 6 january : divers make a pilgrimage to the ceramic crib in Grotta dello Emeraldo.

Amalfi Weather

Amalfi has a typically Mediterranean, mild in the winter and very warm in the summer. The average temperatures in winter is 13°C while in the summer, 23°C, with the warmest months being July and August.
